Natural vs Paid Results

Natural Search Results

SEO is aimed toward improving your natural search results, as opposed to paid search results (explained below). Within the Google interface, these are the results shown within the main body area of the screen.

These results are far preferred over the paid results from a user perspective as they are generally more relevant to the search performed. As a long term strategy it is therefore most beneficial to have your website listed prominently within these results when users enter a relevant search phrase. natual Result

To be effective a site should be listed within the first 20 results. By default 10 results are shown per page within both Google and Yahoo results. Typically users will not continue past the second page of results.

Paid Search Results:

Paid search results can provide instant listings within the popular search engines, as opposed to SEO (explained above). Within the Google interface, these are the results shown within the top section of the page.

While natural search results are far more favorable, paid search results can be useful to provide some immediate benefit during the early phases of the SEO process. Paid Result
